Bumblebee’s Learning Experiences W/c 10th October 2016

Posted on Sunday, October 9, 2016 in Bumblebees Learning

Posting is the schema this week as we explore letterboxes of different sizes.  Will we be able to fit the big letter into the small post box or will it just have to be the big one?  Let’s find out as we explore and discover through a range of resources.  With the addition of shape sorters children will have the opportunity to discover shape and investigate why the square won’t fit into the round hole.  On our weekly walk we will be looking for a real post box so that we can post our own drawings home.  Look out for the postman, Mummy and Daddy to see what arrives.

With posting comes enveloping and the children have enjoyed placing socks over their hands and feet, this week we will be bringing them to life as we tell stories through puppets  and role play.  May be we will even make our own!  With stories come rhymes and with the addition of rhyming bags in our tent alongside song cards and story books we will be listening to the sounds and tones of language, encouraging the babies to mimic and copy.

With the carnival and fair going to town at the end of the week we thought we would bring in the festival feel of a circus, introducing new animals and people and discovering their talents.  With us always wanting to be physical this will be an ideal opportunity to explore new tricks such as balancing and roly poly’s as well as other acrobats along the way.

Finally look out for the malleable area as we get messy with soapy sand. Carrying on from our Autumn theme we will be using twigs, conkers, acorns and leaves to make marks in this wonderful texture.  I wonder what would happen if we put a pebble in would it stay on the surface or sink deep below.  Let’s explore light and heavy.
