Health and Safety Policy

Stepping Stones Day Nursery has established a Health and Safety Policy to ensure the health, safety and welfare at work of all employees and the children in its care.

In pursuance of this policy the company will take such action as necessary and which is reasonably practicable and will pay particular attention to;

  • The provision and maintenance of a working environment for employees that is safe, without risks to health and adequate as regard to facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.
  • The maintenance of the place of work under its control in a condition that is safe and without risks to health and the provision and maintenance of means to access and egress from it that are safe and without such risks.
  • The provision of such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure the health and safety at work of its employees.

Each employee is required by the Health and Safety at Works Act 1974, while at work;

  • To take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
  • To co-operate with their manager, or any other person, so far as it is necessary, to enable them to comply with any health and safety duty or recruitment placed upon them.
  • To avoid intentionally or recklessly interfering with, or misusing anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare. To report to Chris Acton accidents or occurrences which have or might have caused personal injury and cooperate in the investigation of accidents or dangerous occurrences.

Where appropriate, employees will be subject to disciplinary action where breaches of regulations and or wilful disregard of safety practices or procedures occur.

The company will prepare statements on organisation and responsibilities which together with this policy statement will be brought to the attention of all employees and will be displayed on notice boards.  The company will consult employees on measures for promoting health and safety at work.

All contractors and consultants working for the company will be required to comply with the safety policy.

The company and its employees are required to comply with the Health and Safety at Works 1974 and with its statutory provisions.   This policy will be reviewed as new issues become apparent.
