Caterpillar’s Learning Experiences W/c 21st November 2016

Posted on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Caterpillars Learning

Let’s get physical.  With the colder weather fast approaching what better than to get active.  The Caterpillar’s have currently enjoyed our stepping stones, jumping to one from the other.  This week we will be taking it a little further as we attempt to balance along the beams.  Once this area has been investigated why not get busy building towers and castles with our large construction play.  If you can’t build high enough, don’t worry there will be ladders to climb to ensure that that tower reaches the sky!

Back inside why don’t you come and visit the zoo?  Children will have time to design and create their own zoo, using bricks, walls and fences to enclose the animals.  Once completed will you be the visitor, the ticket seller or the zoo keeper?  How will you look after the Lions or the crocodiles?  What will they need?  As a visitor which animal will you visit first? And after all that walking will you stop at the cafe for a cup of tea? As you know, when you visit a zoo you will need a camera to take lots of photos.  Don’t worry if you don’t have one, just visit our Stepping Stones technology shop.  We have gadgets of all shapes and sizes which you can explore and investigate before buying.  Once you have decided on your purchase, we will find you just the right size box to pack it in.

To continue with our mark making theme, this week we will be taking it one step further as we explore a range of media in our farm yard.  Children will have the opportunity to explore the tracks of farm vehicles, animals and people as they move the pieces around in the paint.

Home Learning

  • Let me press buttons on things like torches or remote control cars to see what happens.
  • Make an obstacle course where I have to run around benches or chairs, crawl under a blanket and crawl through a cardboard box.
