Butterflies Learning Experiences W/c 7th November 2016

Its National Nursery Rhyme Week, so whatever room you are in, you are about to jump into the Land of Nursery Rhymes…

We are going to be exploring rain with Doctor Foster and Incey Wincey Spider.  How can we make the water look like rain?  Will we be able to make a puddle that reaches up to our middle? Will Incey be able to climb that spout without being washed away yet again?  This week will be able to explore and test our ideas with lots and lots of water!

Over in our malleable area, we will be putting our fine motor skills to the tests as we use various tools to shear Baa Baa Black Sheep.  In our investigation area, there will be an opportunity to investigate magnets with our 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  Will you be able to match fish to fish?  Recognise numerals?  Or make predictions on which objects are attracted to magnets?

Outside look out for our bus stop as the Wheels on The Bus come rumbling by.  Children will be working together to create buses that hold just the correct number of toys.  Will you be able to put the correct number on the number four bus?  Who will be the station master and who will be the driver.  Will you be able to park your bus in the right parking bay?  Don’t forget your tickets as the buses are likely to be full!

In addition to this excitement, there will be story trays in the small world area related to Doctors, Farmyards and Space.  Can you guess the rhymes?  There will be a range of props on our literacy shelf to incorporate in all areas of our play, and our maths shelves will be covering number rhymes such as three cheeky monkeys, five currant buns and telling the time with Hickory Dickory Dock.  Tick Tock, Tick Tock.  You may know what rhymes with one but what about two, three and four?  Can you rhyme any more?

Home Learning

Play listening games with me like “Simon Says…” Where I have to copy the actions or “Ready, Steady, Go” where I have to wait to push the car or ball. Sing and dance with me to my favourite songs.
