Butterflies Learning Experiences W/c 21st November 2016

Posted on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Butterflies Learning

What a fun week we have lined up as we explore and investigate a range of interests.  Outside we will be creating a Firefighters dream as we create fires with coloured shaving foam to be put out using sprays and hoses. This will be continued with our very own small world tuft tray that will have the addition of red and yellow rice, and tissue paper alongside the usual action figures and vehicles.  The work of our real Super Heroes will be explored through various art and craft activities throughout the week which will be incorporated into the children’s learning and play as we make various accessories to complement our imaginations.Back inside we will be exploring colours further after the love of our coloured spectacles.  This will be done through the investigation of coloured ice and watch them melt together to create a new colour.  Can you predict what it might be?  There will also be an opportunity to create colours for a purpose as you paint pictures of your own choosing.  As we think about making marks, we will be exploring letters and how we form them using a  range of tools such as streamer shakers to wave in the air, cars with pens attached, zippy malleable bags as well as the more traditional route.  There will be an opportunity to explore letters further through threading, magnets and tactile.  Will you be able to recognise, name and sound the letters of your name?  What other words will you be able to make?  Last but not least this week as we tidy up our garden with rakes, wheelbarrows and brushes we are hoping for some windy weather as we explore the wind and how it makes objects move.  Look out for our windmills, kites and windsocks.  Will we be able to create our own wind to make the objects move?  Let’s explore.

Home Learning

  • Make colours ice cubes with me and let me use them to paint with.
  • Take me out to different places where we live, like the fire station or the library.
