Butterflies Learning Experiences W/c 14th November 2016

Posted on Sunday, November 13, 2016 in Butterflies Learning

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, we’re going to the Moon.  The children will be thinking of outer space this week as we explore Twinkle, Twinkle and creating their black hole with torches to enable them to create a night sky using various mark making tools.  In the small world, we will be extending on our Space Play with the addition of planets, craters and boxes to build Rockets that will help us reach our destination.

Outside in our construction area, we will be re-enacting the rhyme of Humpty Dumpty as we attempt to build sturdy walls for him to sit on, using a range of materials. What could we use as Humpty Dumpty? Will we be able to balance him?  And how could we stop him from breaking?  Over in the investigation area, there will be the opportunity to create Mary’s Garden as we watch white flowers change to a range of colourful ones by carrying out a simple experiment with coloured water.  Will we be able to make a row of cockle shells and silver bells to complement the arrangement?

Back indoors we will be looking in more detail at Nursery Rhymes as we use pictures to help recall the popular songs.  Will you be able to sequence them in the right order, before you begin to sing.  Where as in the maths area we will be discovering pre-positions as the cow jumps over the moon, Humpty sit on top of the wall, the mouse runs down, Incey climbs up and the mouse was frightened under the chair.  I wonder if you will place them correctly?

Lastly after loving the Wheels on the Bus we will be moving onto another mode of transport as we explore the song book, the Magic Train Ride through various art and craft activities.

Home Learning

  • Talk to me about the order I need to do things in, like brushing my teeth or getting ready for bed.
  • Play a treasure hunt game with me where I have to listen to your instructions to help me find the next “clue”.
