Stepping Stones Newsletter

September 2015

Dear Parents / Carers

It’s September already and the Summer holidays are well and truly over, how quick they go.  This is always an exciting time of year for us as we welcome back the children that we haven’t seen for a while and catch up on their adventures.  In addition to this we would like to welcome all the new children and families into the nursery and we look forward to getting to know you as well as having lots and lots of fun.

Stepping Stones Mobile App

We now have an App available for download from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store.  Not only does this App allow you to keep updated on nursery life but it also enables you to inform us in a quick and easy format if your child is absent, a change of hours or if you wish to email us with a message.  Parents have been experimenting with this over the Summer months and so far feed back has been really positive.  Please give it a try, simply download and register.

Learning and Development

Hopefully by now you will realise that each week your child’s group share their learning experiences with you on our Mobile App and our website.  This gives you an insight on what children will be learning during their weekly sessions and also gives you some simple ideas to encourage further learning at home.  Please take the time to have a look, we would be very interested in your views.

Learning experiences can be found on our website www.ssdn.info

or live on the app instantly and easier

Tapestry

Don’t forget that your child’s learning is all on Tapestry.  For those who have not attended over the Summer holidays – we would love to see what you have been doing.  Parent reviews will be available from October to catch up on your children’s progress.  Please speak to your Key Person to arrange an appointment convenient to you.

Early Years Funding and 2gether Funding for January

We do advise that if you wish to increase hours due to being eligible for early years funding, that you let us know as soon as possible.  Places are given on a first come, first serve basis however we need to remain sustainable so therefore can not keep places open in the hope that you may require it.

Sickness / Illness

Can we please remind parents that if your child has been given Calpol before their Nursery session, then they are clearly not well enough to attend.

Please think not only of your own child but those of others as well. Keeping ill children at home helps to reduce the risk of infection within the nursery setting.

Children with a temperature should stay away from nursery for 24 hrs. Children with sickness and diarrhoea 48 hrs.

A New Term

A new term always bring new changes, can you please check with a member of staff that your nursery times and child’s information forms are correct.

People Picking Up

Can we just remind all parent’s that if someone different is picking your child up, we do need to be told.  This can be done at the beginning of the session, through the Mobile App or via a telephone call.

To ensure safeguarding is maintained a name, description of the person, I.D. and a password is required during these instances.

Letters and Sounds Evening

Our Letter and Sounds Evening is back due to popular demand!  We will be running this event on Thursday October 1st at 7.00p.m.  We look forward to seeing you.

Please take a book

Our book shelves in the foyer are proving very popular, with children borrowing books regularly.  However, can we please remind parents to return them so that other children may enjoy this wonderful resource as well.

Comments and Ideas

As a nursery we are always trying to improve our services and provision. If you have any wonderful ideas or suggestions, we would love to hear from you.

Thank for your continuous support.

Best Wishes

Clare, Chris and the Team
