Stepping Stones News Letter

June / July 2019

Dear Parents,

You probably realise that our Newsletters are a bit like buses.  You don’t get one for a little while and then suddenly they come all at once!  Well we are now in the midst of Summer, with the Butterflies having their last Term with us.  This is always a sad time for us as we prepare to say ‘Goodbye’ to familiar faces.  At this time we would like to say ‘Thank you’ for allowing us to be part of your lives, it has been a real privilege to watch your children grow and develop in readiness for their new adventure.   We look forward to seeing you all at the Graduation Party!

Change Of Date to Graduation Party

Graduation will now be taking place on the 18th July at 10:00 – 11:30 p.m.  We request that the parents turn up at 11:00 to see a small performance performed by the children and to allow them to collect a small token of their time with us.

Receiving Your Child’s Learning Journey.

As of next month the Butterflies will still be planning and observing the children in their care to ensure that their learning and development continues. However, Tapestry will be winding down due to the fact that Transitions will have been completed and we would like to be able to prepare the journals ready for you to have as a keepsake.

Very shortly you will be receiving a letter for you to sign and return, on doing so we will then ensure that your child’s tapestry will be ready for down load.  It’s as easy as that!

Staff Changes

September is always the time of year that we look at moving staff to best fit the nursery, as it is generally a time that Children transitions to a new group.  We have also got a few staff that are due to go onto maternity leave (Kym, Katie, Zoe and April) and it is important to take that into consideration. Likewise we are pleased to welcome back Jess and Katrina. Therefore at this current time we are considering the groups to be as follows;

Bumble Bees Dragonflies Caterpillars Butterflies

Michelle Abby Jess Lucy

Ness Hannah Katrina Lorraine

Emma Danni Zoe Kym

Kim Karen Noah Rachel

Katie April Jo Steph

Katie Joanna

Charlene

Hayley will continue to be our S.E.N.D.

Emma and Sue will continue to help us with lunch times on a Thursday and in addition we will be taking on two new lunch time assistants and a new apprentice; Charlene who is already Level 2 qualified and will be undertaking her Level 3.

Introducing The Dragonfly Group

You may or may not be aware that the Nursery has a new room situated in the garden, this has been used in recent months to accommodate the Bumblebees and Caterpillars according to their needs.  On seeing how this has benefitted the children in our care we have decided to make this a permanent arrangement with the view of having a new age group of children to further enable appropriate learning and development according to their age and ability.

Therefore from July children aged 20 to 30 months will be based in the Dragonfly Room with Abby as Team Leader, working alongside Hannah, Karen and Danni. The expectation will be that parents will drop them off in this room in readiness to play.

Availability

Unfortunately we are struggling to accommodate any more children or changes of hours at this current time. The Bumblebees are now full until April 2019, and the Caterpillars until September 2020. The Butterflies do have some limited space in September 2019.  Please consider this when requesting a change in day and be prepared, that sadly we may have to say no.

Term Time Only Parents if your child is term time only, then please be aware that we cannot offer extra sessions during holiday times, except for emergencies which will need to be authorised by management.

Finally I would once again like to wish you all a lovely Summer and hope that those of you who are full time will have the opportunity for a family holiday at least!  Goodbye and Good luck to all our older Butterflies and I hope that we have made you curious and excited about learning new things on the next part of your journey.

Thank you to all new and old parents for making our jobs the most enjoyable!

Chris, Clare, Bertie (the dog) and all the team at Stepping Stones.
