Stepping Stones News Letter

December 2017

Who can believe it?  We don’t do a Newsletter for ages and then we have two in a row!  Due to a complete overhaul of the Nursery and a change of staff in each room plus New Christmas Events which are coming to fruition. Here goes…

The Nursery as a whole….

Stepping Stones Day Nursery thrives to bring quality childcare to the families of Okehampton and surrounding areas, to do this successfully at times we do need to look at our practice and what our practitioners can offer to ensure that all children reach their full potential in readiness for their transition to school.

With this in mind, we have looked at all of our practitioner’s qualifications, skills, experiences and dispositions to see how they best fit into our setting to provide the best learning and development within the age remit and so starting from now in readiness for January the groups will be as follows;

Laura Team Leader Level Three (undertaking her Foundation Degree)

Mika Level Six

Lorraine Level Four

Katrina Level Three

Kimberley Level Three

Rachel Level Three

Jess Team Leader Level Three

Abby Level Three

Savi Level Three

Jess H. Level Three

Katie Level Three

Lucy Undertaking Level Three

Angel Undertaking Level Three

Zoe Undertaking Level Two

Michelle Team Leader Level Three

Ness Level Three

Shannon Level Three (undertaking her Foundation Degree)

Jo Level Three

April Level Two

Emma Level Two

We know that you as parents may feel a little unsettled towards these moves, however, please be reassured that all the children are aware and familiar with all the practitioners within the nursery and the transition will be done over the next few weeks to ensure that the children remain secure and settled.  As much as we hate to upset our key worker system, it is at this time a reasonable and just decision to have made.  If you do have any concerns or anxieties due to the above, please feel free to speak to either myself or Chris.

It’s Christmas!

The Butterflies have already put out their notices to invite the children and their Mums and Dads to the Elf Workshop where you can explore and do together some lovely festive activities before the rest of your family join you to watch the amazing Nativity play on big screen with hot chocolate and popcorn.  Spaces are filling up fast so don’t delay sign today.

The Caterpillars have decided that their Carol Service will be taking place on Monday, Tues, Friday afternoons and Wednesday and Thursday morning.  So come on Mums, and Dads get your singing voices tuned and come and join in the fun.  We might even provide hot chocolate and popcorn for you too!

The Bumblebees have decided to celebrate the Night before Christmas and are requesting that all of our babies get snuggly in their pyjamas for the week as they discover the world of Christmas through Winter wonderlands, sparkly treasure baskets and a variety of stories and festive activities.  I wonder what you will make for the special people in your life?

Our postbox will be on situated in the foyer from the 1st of December so start writing your cards to all of your friends and wait for the deliveries as children are selected to be the Nursery postman.  Will you be able to read and recognise the names?

Don’t forget our last day of term for our Term time children is the 15th December. However, all of you are invited to our Christmas Party on the 22nd December at 10.00, and we look forward to seeing you all there.

In the meantime have a great festive period, a fantastic Christmas and a happy New Year.

Best Wishes

Chris, Clare and the whole Team at Stepping Stones
