After visiting the zoo, the children have become interested in their own holidays and trips, hence the talk of aeroplanes and airports, as we watch them in the sky.  To extend on this line of thought we will be creating our very own airport with big and little planes to fly in and out with.  The planes will be numbered and I wonder whether we will be able to park them into the correct ports.  Back in the airport look out for the cafes and chairs with which we can sit back and wait for our...

Let’s get physical.  With the colder weather fast approaching what better than to get active.  The Caterpillar’s have currently enjoyed our stepping stones, jumping to one from the other.  This week we will be taking it a little further as we attempt to balance along the beams.  Once this area has been investigated why not get busy building towers and castles with our large construction play.  If you can’t build high enough, don’t worry there will be ladders to climb to ensure that that tower...

What a busy week we have lined up as we explore the world of categorising, sorting and matching.  The Caterpillars have been showing a huge interest in numbers, after demonstrating that they can recognise some numerals, we would now like to extend on this by being able to put the correct quantity of objects to the numeral in question.  With the use of flash cards, posting boxes and number toys, let the fun begin.  This thought continues outside with an opportunity to explore the marble runs...

Its National Nursery Rhyme Week, so whatever room you are in, you are about to jump into the Land of Nursery Rhymes. The children have loved the musical instruments that they have made and what better way to explore Nursery Rhymes than with these.  Will we be able to play them to the beat?  Of course, we will!  Outside we will be going to space as we learn to count down for blast off and sing the songs Zoom, zoom, zoom and five little men in a flying saucer.  Once back on land look out for Old...

Guy Fawkes night is happening this week, and the Caterpillars are going to be exploring how this particular event is celebrated. As we all know a bonfire is a big part of the celebration, so the Caterpillars will be making their own pretend campfire to link with their camping role-play. I wonder what you might cook? Don’t forget to take your torch. Using the tent as a prop the children will be able to use their imaginations to create and act out a story about their camping trip. Will you be...

Our Caterpillars have been enjoying our ball and chutes, watching them as they are posting them through the holes and dropping on the other side.  This week we will be exploring the size and shape further as we introduce new sensory materials such as pine cones, conkers, eggs and acorns to see how they roll.  I wonder which ones will go slow and which will be the fastest? Due to the interest of posting objects, our clothes shop will be changing to the post office.  The Caterpillars will have...
