Butterflies Learning Experiences W/c 5th December 2016

Posted on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Butterflies Learning

It’s almost Christmas.  Well, that’s what the Butterfly group are telling us, so it must be true.  With the colder weather upon us we want to build a snowman, so this week we will be creating our snow to mould into balls for these wonderful creations.  With the addition of Mr Potato head accessories, these are going to be the finest specimens ever seen!  Since these snowmen never melt they will need homes and where better than an igloo.  Yes, this week we will be exploring ice and will be attempting to make igloos out of ice cubes.  How will we stick them together?  Any ideas?

Many children have been lucky enough to go on the Polar Express, this week we will be revisiting their experiences as we create our own in our small world area.  On the way, we will be visiting Santa’s workshop in the North Pole where you can become an elf and help build, create and wrap the presents in readiness for Christmas Eve.

After all this, I am sure you will be ready to come back indoors where festive preparations are taking place.  In our home corner, the house needs decorating; the fire needs lighting and mince pies, and Christmas cakes need to be made.  Meanwhile, downstairs there will be the opportunity to write letters to Father Christmas, prepare your wish lists and a chance to make and write out your Christmas Cards for your friends.

Last but not least we will be making our Nativity costumes for our performance which will be taking place on the week commencing the 12th December.  Book your spaces now.   We look forward to seeing you all!

Home Learning

  • Let me make and write out some Christmas cards for all my friends.  Let me mail them in the nursery’s special post box.
  • Let me practice my fine motor skills by allowing me to help you decorate the tree.
