Happy New Year Butterflies and welcome to the new children who have just recently joined us.  I hope you have lots of fun during your time with us.  After the Christmas holidays we are keen to know what you have been up to and so this week will be filled with circle times that enable you to share your news.  Through various media you will be abler to create your favourite times or possible your favourite present.  Of course, we also need to remember to write our Thank You Letters.

We will also be focusing on our fine motor skills and that all important pen grip.  Look out for our activities that involve peg boards, threading and rice play with tweezers.  In our maths area, we will be investigating shape as we use various construction to build and our wooden shapes to make some beautiful arrangements.

Our home corner and small world area will be looking at our home life and will allow plenty of opportunities to talk about the things that you do at home with your friends allowing you to notice similarities and differences within your families.  One thing for sure you probably all wash dishes and this week we will be testing your skills as have a range of washing up bowls and tea towels to wash and dry dishes.  Our Cook will be so pleased!

Over in our investigation area, we will be following our children’s interest in the iPad as we explore their usefulness through researching tricky questions that arise, taking photo’s of interest and using the drawing app to express our findings.  Look out for the display!

Home Learning

  • Let me press buttons like on the pelican crossing or the doorbell, to see what happens.
  • Let me make patterns with buttons or lids, like “big, small, big”.
