Bumblebee’s Learning Experiences W/c 23rd January 2017

Posted on Sunday, January 22, 2017 in Bumblebees Learning

Our filling and emptying will be taking place in the malleable area this week as we use different sized pots and spoons to manipulate coloured rice.  How will it feel against our hands and what sound will it make as it hits the tray?  Will you know when your pot is full?

Back in the construction area we will be still looking at filling but also ways to transport as we introduce a simple pulley system, wheelbarrows and dumper trucks to the equation.  Will the builders get their bricks on time?

Meanwhile, the interest of the baby dolls continue and so with the introduction of baby bottles, cups and spoons we will be going more into the care giving routines that are so important. The exploration of how things move have been a great success, with us moving on to the theme of airports in our small world area and discovering where our planes will take us.  Also look out for our ICT shelves with buttons, levers and knobs to pull, press, lift and twist to our heart’s content.

Our younger babies have enjoyed their tummy time including a range of action rhymes carried out individually.  The babies appear fascinated by our funny faces, and so we will be introducing the world of mirrors and reflections.  Look out for our family display board as well as photo’s of our wonderful Bumblebees.  We will also be creating family boxes into the room.  Please see below on how you could help.

Home Learning

  • Play copying games with me, like using the same metal spoon as I’ve got to make the same noise that I’m making on the fence.
  • We would love to have our own family boxes that we can access while we’re at nursery.  Once they are decorated we would like to put some familiar items from home inside.  Think about all the sense such as smells, sight and touch.  Be creative for me.
