Bumblebee’s Learning Experiences W/c 13th February 2017

Posted on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Bumblebees Learning

Our babies have loved exploring the texture of cornflour and enjoying it trickle and drop from their fingers. This week we will be taking it further as we bring textures into other features of our play.  Look out for the natural materials and resources such as melons, grapefruits, oranges and lemons to roll.  Let’s explore materials as we add small people, animals and cars to the equation, to encourage language and imagination.  We will be able to touch, feel and play peek-a-boo as we drape, cover and hide.  Let’s discover the world of feely boxes as we hide objects beneath shredded paper.  With pots to fill and empty will you use it for paper or to enclose your hidden treasures.

Down at the station, our train is off to the farm to visit all the animals that we might find there.  Who will you want to visit first and how might you look after them.  What does a duck need compared to a cow or a pig?  Can you say; ‘hello’ by making the same sounds like them?

In the world of construction, let’s look and see what we have, as we explore a large basket with a wide variety of resources to empty out.  Can you balance big boxes onto small bricks?  Do they balance or do they fit together?  How do these work?

Meanwhile outside, we are going into the woods to have a Teddy Bears Picnic.  Once all the cooking has been done the younger babies will be kicking up a rumpus as they turn the pots and pans upside down to discover the sounds they make by banging and hitting with a range of wooden, plastic and metal utensils.

Home Learning

Let me build and balance with the recycling boxes.

Let me turn out and explore one of your kitchen cupboards.  Make sure that the equipment stored inside is safe to do so.  Saucepans and Lids are great with wooden spoons.
